SO I haven’t gotten around to posting (even though I wanted to put up some of the nice words said about the Namor Annual). It struck me that this might make it seem like I have less going on – though it’s actually the opposite.
Some BIG NEWS (for me, anyways) will be coming out in the next few weeks.
In the meantime – I’m working on that, a commissioned project (that probably won’t be available to the public), two spec (film) scripts, teaching myself how to letter comics for an independent submission, and performing comedy again.
I’ll post the relevant and interesting stuff as it comes up. In the meantime, I wanted to thank any and all the people who have popped by.
Please feel free to LEAVE COMMENTS! Some have started to, but I’d love to know what brought you, and what were you hoping to find here? — I’d be happy to put more of whatever that would be up on the site.
<— In The Meantime
Check out handsome art for a comic I co-created with my buddy Jim Festante. The art is by the awesome (and German!) illustrator Remus Brezeanu.
More Online Distractions!
— Check out the aforementioned Jim Festante hosting THE GAME SHOW (video games) on TheStream.TV
— Dig Remus’ art for web comic SOCIALFIST! – a riff on Socialist Superheroes 😀 I recommend starting at the link.
— And 180 degrees away from those things – the fantastic APPLE SISTERS (a modern WWII girl group) has a comedy podcast on Earwolf that’s already getting great traction. I love them. You should give it a try.
Hi! I’m a BIG fan of your work. “Escape from the Negative Zone” was the X-Story of the year for me! And I hate Hope Summers(she truly sucks)
How did I come across this site… ummm. Oh yeah! You edit yourself on comicvine!! I wanted to know all your Marvel work, I’m glad I own most of it(I’m missing the Deadpool Team-Up issue). It’d be easier if you edited your profile better, specifying *which* one’s you wrote(you know the anthologies and all that).
You’re a comedian! That’s cool.
I think the first story of yours I read was a Nightcrawler one. I loved it so much.
If you were to write an X-Men team(which I very much hope you do) which X-Men would you like to write?
That’s amazing to hear! Thank you!
I would love to know what (particularly) do you hate about Hope?
(She definitely had a significant ‘pouting brat’ phase post Cable’s death, that I tried to bridge past in the story.)
I ask, because I’m fairly certain I’ll be writing her again – and while I can’t totally change her, I know a lot of people don’t like her. So maybe I can soften the blow a bit more 🙂
I really like how you wrote her, the *only* time I’ve liked her.
More Escape to the Negative Zone Part 3 (vulnerable, not always perfect like an actual human being)
Less Escape to the Negative Zone Part 2 (when she was so smug to Cyclops)
It was so annoying when she gave Professor X shit for calling it
“School for Gifted Youngsters”. That issue of Gen H was so annoying. We get it she’s better than everyone.
FF – I fully agree that a vulnerable Hope is 1000% preferable. She’ll probably still struggle with her ego a bit under my pen – but I promise to de-emphasize that aspect.
Also, sorry I missed your question initially!
If I got to choose what team book I’d write?? – Well, the book that hooked me as a kid was back issues of the original Excalibur run. So if I built a team, it would probably center around Nightcrawler (if he weren’t dead), Kitty, Colossus, Psylocke, and maybe Magik as the person we don’t fully like/trust. You’d have a lot of emotional ties & relationships between those characters to ground and propel the human aspects, and they have great personalities.
Any book I write will make use of the broad supporting cast X-Men have, though. I love the opportunity to bring in under-used characters for one or two stories to keep things fresh for me and the reader.
I am also sad Nightcrawler is gone, without him the X-Men are kinda just a bunch of jerks.
But not with you, Emma is noble, Cyclops is funny, Hope is likable, Pixie is flighty, Nemesis is witty, Boom-Boom is fun! I think you totally properly portray their emotional ties and have no trouble with a large cast!
After Kurt died I totally went hunting for back issues for my Nightcrawler fix, picked up sum 90’s Excalibur issues totally made me love Daytripper. I was hoping to get to see her in the Second Coming aftermath dealing with Kurt’s death but I guess it was just one and done.
I’d like your team, or any team you’d write. As a big NXM fan I completely agree with your thoughts on Magik.
